We are so proud to share that our Jimmy, HJA Sundust, was the 2018 USEF Region 10 Horse of the Year in Morgan Versatility (and he was sixth in the same in Region 1).
Anyone who has met Jimmy knows that he is a wonderful, game sport horse. But the 2018 show season was extra special for Jen and Jimmy, given Jim had to take almost all of 2017 off while battling very aggressive sarcoids. This amazing horse had major surgery in July of 2017, was in the hospital for a long time, rehab for weeks, stall-bound for weeks, chemotherapy for months. And he was himself through all of it – a sense of humor combined with a tough, can-do attitude. No matter how terrible he felt.
By the end of 2017, Jen was just happy that her best pal seemed to be doing okay overall and responding well to chemo – which was very aggressive. We weren’t even sure when/if we would be riding again. You can imagine our pride in our amazing horse when he not only bounced back, but bounced back ready to rumble!!
Jen often refers to Jimmy as her horse of a lifetime. Best friends and competition partners like this don’t come around so very often. And we are so proud that he was honored as such, with what we think is the ultimate award for a Morgan – Versatility! It is what our wonderful breed is all about.
We are excited to see what adventures the 2019 show season brings for this spectacular horse.
