We are home from a whirlwind few days at Dressage at Devon! This is one of our favorite shows of the year, and this time was extra special…not only did we bring our 2022 filly, Figment Wildflower (Poppy), we also brought our wonderful broodmare, Coachman’s Tsunami (Sue), as well as our lovely mare Windfield Mariah (Mariah). All of our girls continued to impress us with their poise in handling the atmosphere at Devon – it was the first show for everyone except for Clara (Blitzen Golden Legacy), Poppy’s dam. And what a show it was!
The Morgan IBC was incredibly strong and a big class; we are so excited to see the participation grow. The day started with a bang – Poppy won the class with a 74.975%! April Trimmer showed her beautifully, while Katie Davilli ran Clara alongside. Our wonderful Sue was 3rd after a beautiful trip on the triangle (thanks again, April!) with a 74.45%, and Mariah was just lovely for a solid 6th place with Jen on a score of 73.60%. It continued to be a great day, Jen and Mariah scored a 75.80% for a nice 5th in the Adult Amateur Handler, a favorite class.
April showed Poppy again in the Ponies of Current Year, and little miss was quite sassy! We finished out with the Ponies 4 & Older class, where Katie showed Sue and Mariah in the Dixon. Both mares were picture perfect, despite the atmosphere and never having schooled in the ring. Mariah finished 3rd with a fantastic score of 77.25%, the highest scoring Morgan of the show. Sue was 4th in the class, right behind Mariah as the second highest scoring Morgan with a 76.95%.
We are beyond proud of our horses, and it was wonderful to see so many friends! We are looking forward to next year. Next stop for us is USDF Region 1 Championships!
