USDF Regional finals have always been a show we would like to attend, but every year something just seems to come up that keeps us home! Jen and Jimmy qualified for the Adult Amateur Region 1 finals, and so of course off we went! The show was held at the Virginia Horse Center, an absolutely fantastic venue that is only a couple of hours away from the farm. Mariah came along for the trip for experience and to keep Jimmy company.
The Virginia Dressage Association hosts a two day open dressage show at the same time, so Jen and Jimmy were able to practice their test twice before their championship ride. Predictably the atmosphere is big at a show like this, so it was helpful to be there a few days in advance. Unfortunately, Jen has been battling serious back problems all fall, and it’s hard to ride particularly well when you can’t move your back!
The trip was well worth it regardless, with a nice championship ride for Jen and Jimmy, and a lot of fun spent with our friends April Trimmer and Kate Holloway, there for their championship rides as well! Everyone did well, had a great time, and represented the Morgan breed beautifully.
We called it a year – and a good one it was, despite the shortened season! We can’t wait for the 2023 show season.
